Is how the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) describes the outcome WSET Level 1 Award in Wines.
This course is the first step towards becoming a wine trade professional - followed by the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits 'looking behind the label' and finally 'exploring the world of wines and spirits' through the WSET Level 3 award in Wine.
This is an entry level qualification providing a straightforward introduction to wine. It is ideal for boosting the confidence of front line staff in the hospitality and retail sectors. It is also a great course for those wanting to know the main grape varieties, wine styles, an introduction to professional tasting and food and wine pairing with a practical workshop.
The WSET is the only wine & spirit education organisation approved by the UK government as a national awarding body of vocational qualifications.

The next course will be held on Monday 16th October at the amazing new Wine Sanctuary tasting and learning facility at Chapel Down Winery, Smallhythe near Tenterden. Free transport is available from Hastings, Rye or Tenterden.
The cost, inclusive of study material, wine and food samples, tuition, examination and provision of glasses and other equipment during the course, for individuals is £150 to include lunch and the updated WSET fees from August 2017. We are very happy to discuss in-house sessions for either trade or groups of friends and tailor-made courses around our customers' existing wine list and menu.
